There is a relatively new  Ohio breeder who’s making more and more of an impact on Ohio racing with each passing year.  Steven Chumney (who breeds and races under Smokin C LLC) bred the winners of three big races at Belterra today!
Here are the results:
2nd Race (Ohio Registered Allowance)
You Name It (by Silent Name out of Princess Adelyn)
Trained by Bob Gorham (who purchased this filly as a weanling at the 2019 OTBO Mixed Sale) and owned by Marion Gorham.
Steven bought Princess Adelyn at the 2018 KEENOV sale (with this filly in utero) and brought her to Ohio.
4th Race (Ohio Registered MSW for 2yos)
Mr. Redlegs (2yo gelding by Corfu out of Ivory Treasure)
Trained by Mike Evans (owned by Sheltowee Farm)
Steven bought Ivory Treasure at the 2015 KEENOV sale, and brought her to Ohio.
7th Race (Cincinnatian Stakes for Accredited Ohio bred 3yo Fillies)
Factisimflashy (by Corfu out of Lightning Lucy)
Trained by Jerry Antoniuk (owned by Rolf Obrecht)
Steven bought Lightning Lucy at the 2018 KEENOV sale, and brought her to Ohio.
Three Big wins on a big day at Belterra!
The OTBO will once again be holding our annual Mixed Sale – this is where second race winner You Name It was purchased – on Wednesday October 18th at 2:30 PM at the Delaware County Fairgrounds. Breeders from all over the state will present the best and largest selection of horses in one place in Ohio. Join us and pick out a future winner for yourself!
Today’s results are proof positive that investment into commercial mares can produce high-performing Ohio breds, both registered and accredited! Breeding and racing in Ohio continues to represent one of the best ways to not only have some fun but also to make money in the process. Both big farms and smaller, family operations can enjoy success on the highest levels. The OTBO encourages anyone with an interest in racing to explore the Ohio program or contact us at 330 356 8350 or via email at for more information.
