Call for Nominations for the 2024-2026 OTBO Board of Directors

NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR OTBO BOARD OF DIRECTOR 3 YEAR TERMS

All 12 seats on the OTBO Board of Directors (BOD) are up for election this year. The term is 3 years.

In order to run for the BOD or vote in the election you must be a member in good standing of the OTBO since at least July 20, 2023 (60 days prior to this announcement).

The OTBO BOD meets a minimum of 6 times per year but frequently has additional meetings as needed. We also expect BOD members to help with as many of the current OTBO events as possible – our annual Mixed Sale in October, our Best of Ohio Day events at all 3 tracks, the Youth Days we hope to hold at all 3 tracks, and various other ideas or programs that we develop over the year.

BOD meetings will be either in person or via the internet. We always try and have a call-in option for in person meetings whenever possible as well. Meetings and events are held all over Ohio. BOD positions are all volunteer. No one can be compensated for being a board member.

Nominations must be postmarked, or time stamped, by Friday, October 6, 2023 at 11:59 PM. Please use the form found on our website for your nomination. It can either be mailed or emailed as instructed on the form.

All nominations will be reviewed by the Nominating Committee.  All accepted candidates will be notified no later than October 10, 2023. Decisions of the nominating committee are final.

Ballots will be sent out to all OTBO members in good standing on November 12023 and must be postmarked by December 1, 2023 to be counted in this year’s election.  Full instructions on where to send the ballots will be enclosed in the election packet sent to all members. An independent printer will send out the ballots and an independent accounting firm will handle the counting of the ballots.

Positive campaigning of any kind is allowed. This includes by the candidates themselves or anyone else endorsing them.

Any negative campaigning – as determined by the Nominating Committee – will result in that Candidate being removed from the election and their membership in the OTBO will be cancelled immediately.

The 12 candidates receiving the most votes will be elected. Their term will begin January 1, 2024 and run through December 31, 2026.
