The Ohio Thoroughbred Breeders & Owners are pleased with the reception regional breeders have shown for their first Mixed Sale in 10 years. Entries closed with 100 + horses of all ages, with late supplemental entries being accepted. “We’ll move the process along quickly and will be shipping catalogs to the regional training centers, H.B.P.A. and racing offices that are currently operating live racing,” said Dan Mahaney who operates the auction company that will be working with the O.T.B.O. to facilitate the sale. “We have been seeing solid interest in regional sales and with the strengthening of thoroughbred racing in Ohio are looking forward positive results for consigners and buyers.”
“From what I have seen prior to the final entries being processed there will be offspring of some excellent sires available at the sale, stated O.T.B.O. executive director John Engelhardt. “Some examples are two mares by the world-renowned Tapit; a 2-year-old Dialed In filly, the leading first-crop sire of 2016; Horse of the Year and Champion Mineshaft; Hall of Fame Champion and leading sire Tiznow; the outstanding sire Elusive Quality; two-time Champion Sire in Canada Milwaukee Brew and many other graded stakes winners and proven well-bred sires such as Overanalyze, Liason, Country Day, Tale of Ekati, Shackleford, Jersey Town, Line of David and Bullet Train to name a few.”
There will also be opportunities to acquire Accredited Ohio-breds. Among those represented in the sale thus far are by stallions Kettle Corn, a stakes producing sire from his first crop; Cowtown Cat who leads the state is earnings; Ohio’s leading stallion of 2016 Mobil and multiple graded stakes winner Western Pride Buyers can also get a look at the first crop of Tidal Volume, a popular new stallion to the state and stakes winning son of Tapit.
The sale will be held at Majestic Farm in Batavia, Ohio in the southwest portion of the state not far from Cincinnati. The pristine facility that plays host to a myriad of Hunter/jumper/dressage competition and training. There are 200 outdoor stalls and two heated indoor arenas. There is plenty of parking for horse vans and buyers. Horses can be inspected Saturday, December 2 and on day of sale Sunday, December 3. The auction is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.

From East/West: Take 1-275 to Exit 59a, Milford Parkway
At Exit 59a, follow Milford Parkway towards and past the Showcase Cinemas, Target. At the first light before Target, continue on Milford Parkway. At your second light, you will be at US 50, cross US 50. This then becomes East State Route 131. Go approximately 6.2 miles (four lights) to the intersection of State Route 131 and State Route 132 (Williams Corner).
