Amadevil Takes Her Shot in the Grade 2 Honorable Miss Handicap

Mike Annechino

Ohio’s own darling filly, Amadevil (by Dominus out of Preachette, by Pulpit), takes her shot at Graded-Stakes company today (July 27th) at Saratoga in the Grade 2 Honorable Miss Handicap.

Carded as Race #4 (with a post time of 2:49PM Eastern), Amadevil takes on three highly decorated challengers, all being former graded stakes winners, including Grade 1 winners Bella Sofia (2021 winner of the G1 Longines Test Stakes at Saratoga) and Kimari (2021 winner of the G1 Madison Stakes at Keeneland).  Frank’s Rockette (multiple Grade 2 winner) rounds out the field of 4.

Owned and trained by long-time trainer David Wolochuk and bred by Imagine, Amadevil has won 7 of her 8 career starts in Ohio, including convincing draw-away wins in 3 black-type stakes, the Best of Ohio Diana Stakes just last month at Belterra and the 2021 editions of the Scarlet and Gray Handicap and Michael G Mackey Memorial Angenora Stakes at Thistledown.  David shipped Amadevil to Saratoga last week, to complete her final preparations on both the historic Oklahoma Training Track and main track as well as schooling in Saratoga’s paddock this past Monday.  She has handled everything well and is ready to go.

It is always exciting to see our very own Ohio-breds compete in graded stakes company.  While it is not often we see them in the entry box at racetracks like Saratoga, Amadevil is a true testament to what we, as breeders, owners and trainers, can achieve with careful and planned efforts.

Best of luck and safe trip to Amadevil and all her connections in the Grade 2 Honorable Miss!  All of Ohio will be watching and cheering you on!
