Happy as You Go is Happy as She Went in the Emerald Necklace Stakes

Mike Annechino

The Bob Gorham trained/Marion Gorham owned Happy as You Go demolished a field of 7 Ohio accredited 2 year old fillies in the $75,000 Emerald Necklace Stakes at Thistledown. Ridden by Christian Pilares, the dark bay or brown filly dueled for the early lead then pulled away as she pleased under light urging cruising to a 7 and 1/2 length victory. Bred by Mapleton Thoroughbred Farms she is the daughter of Mobil out of the Dixieland Band mare Preservation Hall.

This makes back to back stake triumphs and three in a row for Happy as You Go. She won the Loyalty Stakes at Belterra Park in her last start.

Rounding out the top three were the Jeff Radosevich trainees Sammy’s Sister and Mobil Chic who finished second and third respectively. All three top finishers were bred by Mapleton making it a clean sweep of the stake for them.
