The highest-grossing short yearling at the Keeneland January Sale was Hip 1053, a colt by WinStar Farm stallion Laoban . He was consigned by Bill Murphy, agent. The colt was bred in Ohio by Mark Allen Toothaker and Gigi Chiandussi out of the Colonel John mare Jade. He was purchased by Rascal Bloodstock for $70,000.
It is encouraging to see Ohio breds getting the recognition they deserve on a national stage. The number and quality of both stallions and mares standing and entering Ohio has been on the improve over the past few years. It is a true testimony to the Breeders and Owners in Ohio that they are supporting our tremendous Ohio Racing program with their hearts and their wallets!
Congratulations from the OTBO to all the connections mentioned above for their sales topper this year!
